We’re all very excited in house and are working hard to integrate all the valuable feedback we’ve already received during the limited beta. Check back at the end of next week to see the brand new intellicontact.com web site.
The World Cup’s Ability to Transcend Culture And The Conversation that May Change U.S. Environmental History - McCain and Khosla (Final Day at Brainstorm)
July 1, 2006
The best moment of the final day at Brainstorm came around 11:15am Mountain Time as a distinguished panel on poverty with Madeleine Albright, Paulo Gomes of the World Bank, Jacqueline Novogratz of the Acumen Fund, and the VP of Shell Oil was beginning in the main tent. Instead of filtering into the conference tent to hear the distinguished speakers, no one (including Senator McCain) would move from their valued positions in front of the two flat screen televisions in the courtyard tent showing the sudden death overtime of Germany vs. Argentina. Not until Germany won in penalty kicks at 11:35 did we go to the session, which had fortunately been delayed until the end of the match. The effect of Sport on the mind of even the most prestigious and elite persons is great.
(Side note to FIFA: Please, please, please consider getting rid of penalty kicks as a method of deciding a drawn game. They are a terrible and unfortunate way to end such a quality match. Instead, simply take one player from each team off every 5 minutes in overtime until one of the team scores the Golden Goal. This is the World Cup, not a friendly. A true winner need be found, not the team that can make the most shots from 8 yards away)
During McCain’s keynote which followed the poverty panel, he spoke on Iran, Iraq, Social Security, Gay Marriage, Immigration (and amnesty), nuclear power, Guantanamo Bay (he favors closing it due to the tarnishment it has caused on American’s international reputation and was not surprised by this week’s Supreme Court verdict), and making political campaigns enjoyable.
