We're Shortening Our Name

Greetings All IntelliContact Customers, Partners, and Family Members;

We are happy to announce today that as of June 5, we will be shortening the IntelliContact name to iContact.

intellicontact is being shortened to iContact

We are making the transition for a few reasons...

reason 1 for brand change

First, IntelliContact is a long name. It's really amazing how often we hear the name pronounced as IntelliConnect. The name IntelliContact has served us very very well over the past four years. But it does have fourteen characters and five syllables. We wanted to see if we could find something shorter.

reason 2 Over the past four years we've grown from a small two-person entrepreneurial start-up to a company with 54 employees and over 10,300 customers. Today, we are starting to become an offline brand and want a name that can scale to the offline world of radio, billboards, and television. We wanted a name that would be easier to remember, easier to say, and easier to spell. iContact was already within the name IntelliContact and many of our fans, customers, employees, and investors already referred to us as iContact, so it naturally came up as an option when we sought something easier.
reason 3 for brand change Also important to our decision was the fact that "Eye Contact" in its physical form is the basis of effective human communication and with "iContact" we want to be the basis of effective online human communication.

So as of Tuesday, June 5, we will be shortening the name to iContact. The website www.intellicontact.com will redirect to www.icontact.com and you'll see the new logo (shown above). But that will be the extent of the changes. All existing sign-up forms, images, and links will continue to work. You won't need to do anything different, and you can keep using intellicontact.com as the domain for as long as you choose. The company name (our corporate name is Broadwick Corp.) will stay the same but everybody will probably just know us as iContact. The same great team behind IntelliContact will be behind iContact.

The Evolving Product

With the name shortening, we chose to modify the slogan to represent the expansion of our vision. Over the past four years, IntelliContact has evolved as a product. We started with just email marketing. Then we added surveys and autoresponders in 2004, then RSS feeds in 2006, then blogging in 2007. Our email marketing tool has turned into an online communication platform. And this is our focus for the future. We want to create a single web-based application that allows you to manage all of your online communications in one place (while still being a rockstar email marketing app as well!)

So instead of our current slogan "We Simplify Email Marketing" the slogan for iContact will be "We Simplify Communication." This statement encapsulates what we are truly trying to accomplish in the next four years.

Our Future: Making Online Communication Really Really Easy

Our goal for the future is to create a single web-based application in which you can manage all of your online communications in one place. We want to provide the ability to create a piece of content once and then distribute it to multiple channels easily as a newsletter, autoresponder, survey, RSS feed post, or blog post. We also want to make it amazingly easy for you to expand the number of people you communicate with. With iContact we are striving to become the worldwide leader in providing on-demand software that makes online communication easy. This is our mission, and our brand promise to you.

You Are the "i"

The "i" within iContact represents not us, but you. It represents a human communicating--while utilizing online software to communicate easily. We will be giving the "i" personality and life and holding customer contests to design the "i" that best represents you. Just imagine YouTube videos with intergalactic battles among the many various "i" characters!

Thank you so much for being part of the IntelliContact, and soon to be iContact, family. We very much look forward to helping your organization communicate with more people, more easily.

Sincerely,

Ryan Allis

I love the new name and logo. Congrats on the Web 2.0 award!

And all this while I had been thinking and saying it as Intelli CONNECT even though I had seen those words so many times.
