This is one reason we chose the investment size we did. I think we hit a sweet spot by saying all our deals will be between $10-25k.

Excellent thoughts Ryan and you can't imagine the good this would do. Being an entrepreneur, I understand clearly some of the problems micro equity could solve in developing countries. In Kenya, for instance, entrepreneurs' progress is seriously hindered by lack of capital and you find projects that could have had an impact in 1-2 years time take over 5 years to get off the ground. Talk of arrested development.
Thanks for the great posts and the inspiration.

Just spotted this post on Twitter and what an excellent next step on from micro-finance. It seems that micro-equity will neatly fill the gap that many of developing enterprises and entrepreneurs find themselves in, too big to quality for funding, too small for serious investment. In addition you get the benefit of having a real stakeholder involved, which requires that the business demonstrates tangible goals from the outset - a great win-.win situation I'd say. Thanks for highlighting it for me Ryan. Linda
